1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
2. In a large bowl, add your softened butter, white sugar, brown sugar, vanilla and egg. Mix until combined.
3. Gradually add in your flour and mix after each addition until all of it is incorperated together. Once all of the flour is combined with the sugar and eggs mixture, you can mix in your chocolate chips.
4. Scoop out one tablespoon portions of the batter and put them on the cookie sheet about 1 inch apart. Bake for about 10-12 minutes. Allow ~3 minutes for the cookies to cool before removing them from the pan
• Full disclaimer that I straight up just stole this recipe from the back of a chocolate chip bag with a few very minor changes... lol. I don't feel bad stealing from them because Nestle sucks, but for the sake of accurate sources you can find the original recipe here:LINK.
• I use self-rising flour as it's what I have in my house and it's convinent. If you don't have it, you can substitute it for all-purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt instead. Mix the flour, salt, and baking soda together in a separate bowl beforehand and then add it into the sugar and egg mixture like usual.
• It makes little difference whether the butter is just soft or completely melted. If you forgot to take it out of the fridge feel free to put it in the microwave, the recipe will come out pretty much exactly the same and still delicious.
• You can also feel free to add more or less vanilla if you want, I usually end up adding a bit more than the one teaspoon it calls for. Which is already double of what the original recipe called for. load these bad boys up with vanilla.
• This recipe makes about ~25-30 cookies, assuming you use 1 tablespoon of batter for each. I counted the last time I made them and got 27. The quantities I list are halved from the original because I never actually need ~60 cookies unless I'm bringing them to a party or something, so it always makes more sense for me to make half. Consider doubling it if you need 5 dozen cookies.
